Brooklyn Maqam Hang is our flagship, twice-monthly music series!  We are happy to offer a place where people can gather consistently to play and listen to this beautiful music on a regular basis. 

Each hang starts with an opening set by a featured ensemble, followed by an open session where musicians from the community can jam together, playing repertoire from the Arab tradition and other maqam-based music. 

For our featured set, we program performances by both seasoned veterans as well as newly established artists in the New York scene. 

Afterwards the jam is not only a more informal setting for the audience to enjoy the music, but also an opportunity for newer players to learn by playing alongside more experienced artists on the bandstand.
